The SM-300 ShatterBox® is a versatile ring and puck mill that can crush and grind many types and sizes of samples with minimal sample loss and increased safety. The versatility of sample containers allows for grinding a wide range of sample amounts (5 g up to 150 g).

Typical applications include: XRF, XRD, ICP, AAS, and IR analyses for rocks, minerals, cement, ores, slag, soil, and ceramics.

The Cole-Parmer® SM-300 ShatterBox is a versatile ring and puck mill that can crush and grind many types and sizes of samples with minimal sample loss and increased safety. The ShatterBox features an automated dish positioning system and locking system for ease of use and greater flexibility. The ShatterBox pulverizes up to 100 mL in volume (or 150g in weight) of brittle material to analytical fineness. The unit has many advanced features, including a touchscreen with programmable timer, an automated clamp, a safety-interlocking automated door, and horizontal grinding container insertion/removal.

Effective September 2023, the Spex SamplePrep 8550 ShatterBox® has now been rebranded Cole-Parmer® SamplePrep under model number SM-300 ShatterBox®. All the same great features and specifications, just with a new and improved look.
